Summer harlow

The harlow Summer Line is almost out! (and isn't this model just adorable!?!) I'm working on getting everything on the website today and I'm super excited about it! It's my favorite line yet - full of gorgeous blue and green gemstones I found in Tucson this year.  I've not seen some of these gemstone colors before and I'm pretty much in love with them:) Check it out!

Arrg...lighting

Lighting for photographing jewelry is an ongoing frustration. Natural light works best but it doesn't always bring out true colors.  Also, living in Portland creates a problem because it's often overcast and there isn't enough light. My summer line has a lot of gorgeous blues and greens that I really want to show in photos.  I came across this tutorial on making your own light box, so I thought I'd try it. The results are pretty good...  but I think I still need brighter lights... Here is the light box. (my daughter's play table and chairs worked perfectly for the set up:)

So, I think it's better but I am going to try brighter lights and work on the shadows a little bit. To be continued..

Adorable Modern Cakes

About Orange had an adorable post yesterday about Sugar Coat It Studio who makes the most interesting and colorful modern cakes. I love the balls on the top layer of the bottom one!  It's inspiring me to want to make one - maybe for Olivia's 2nd birthday:) 

I heart my sewing machine

I saw an orange pillow at Target last year and, since then, I have wished that I would have gotten it.  So I decided to make one myself. I wanted one to match a duvet cover for my bed that I LOVE and a pillow that could be used even when we don't make the whole bed - with shams and all. The stuffing needs a little rearranging, but I love the color and fabric! (it's a velvety soft fabric)

I didn't have any orange thread, so I decided to do a stitch around the outside so I wouldn't have an odd color to sew the part where the stuffing goes in.  My awesome new sewing machine (thanks Mom!) does a number of decorative stitches that were surprisingly easy to use. I chose a leafy vine stitch for this one...

ta-dah! 

Welcome Home Party

Some of our good friends had a wonderful welcome home party for us this past weekend.  It was so great to see everyone again and know we are back where we belong.  This is one of many family photos we tried taking but Olivia had been playing all day by this time and wasn't up for the photos.  This is as good as it gets...

Converted Garage

I came across this garage conversion reading Stephmodo's blog last week.  My boyfriend and I loved it so much that it's inspired us to want to convert our garage.  We are thinking of making the main level into a work studio for me, and the upper loft into a guest bedroom.  This is, of course, a future project (as in years away) but I'm already excited! Summer Is Almost Here!

summer harlow line.  I'm using lots of green and blue, and some light summery gold.  These necklaces are a preview....

I don't know how she does it - so gorgeous, talented, down to earth, amazing work and all while being a mother of MULTIPLE children (I can't imagine even more than one - serious admiration to all the mamas out there that do it all!).....it's inspiring!
